Rue Cler Market

The Rue Cler market was very close to our hotel, so we visited it a few times throughout the week, including after getting back from Versailles. But first, we ate. I had quiche. Can you believe R had a hamburger and french fries? :-)

The market is not very large, just the length of the short street, but it provides cafés, fruits and vegetables, pastries, candies, souvenirs, and specialty items that aren’t nearly as touristy as the shops we later discover on Montmartre. It’s perfect for some city market atmosphere without a huge hustle and bustle.

It was pretty quiet this afternoon, but some evenings it would be fairly crowded.

After enjoying the market, we walked back through the neighborhood streets. We had another meal at a cafe, topped off with a coffee eclair for dessert, and turned in early for some rest.
